Say hello to Christine Botha, our new Project Coordinator - part strategist, part organiser, and full-time calm-in-the-chaos. Since joining Afundi in August, she’s been keeping projects running like clockwork, shaping how we share updates, and adding a fresh perspective to how we get things done. We asked her a few rapid-fire questions to get to know her better, here’s what she had to say:
What does your role at Afundi involve?
As Project Coordinator, I’m the connector, making sure our clients feel informed and our team stays aligned from kickoff to delivery. I keep a close eye on timelines, help further shape how we communicate, and bring structure to how we manage projects (with a lot of help from Monday.com!). It’s a mix of planning, problem-solving, and people, all the things I genuinely enjoy.
What excites you most about joining Afundi?
Honestly, so much! What really stands out is how close-knit the team is, there’s a genuine sense of collaboration and fun. I love getting stuck into the technical details, so I’m looking forward to exploring both the creative and structured parts of the role. No two projects are the same, and that variety is something I find exciting!
What’s your secret to keeping projects calm, clear, and on track?
A solid project management system is always a great starting point, and I’m a big fan of process and structure! Clear communication is just as important, both within the team and with our clients. I’m always looking for ways to improve how we share updates and keep everyone feeling informed and supported.
Do you have a quote or mantra that inspires you?
I love the phrase “Let’s see how the river runs.” I heard it in a TV series and it just stuck with me. It’s a reminder to take things in your stride, not overthink, and let things flow naturally, something I am still working on and trying to embrace in how I approach work and life
Is there a brand you admire, and why?
LEGO has really stood out to me lately. I bought my first set recently and I get all the fuss now. It’s creative, calming, and way more clever than I expected. I admire how it brings out imagination in such a simple, satisfying way. Didn’t expect to become a LEGO person, but here we are.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I was born in South Africa, but I’ve always felt a strong connection to my Irish roots, my grandparents were from Belfast and I’ll happily bring it up any chance I get. Especially the story about my grandfather getting scouted by both Manchester United and Liverpool… and turning them down.
